OFFSHORE SS18 is a collection of beachwear consisting of three swimsuits, two pairs of swim shorts and a beach-towel. The apparel was produced in an edition of 90 total items and sold through an international corporate structure set up by the Demystification Committee to model offshore corporate financial practices.
Purchasing beachwear from an online store triggered a tax evasion scheme whereby the revenue from sales would be moved offshore to evade corporate tax, with the resulting savings distributed back to onshore investors – members of the public who funded the collection through the purchase of shares.
As the business paid no taxes, investors received a 10% return on their initial investment. The tax evasion scheme is documented through diagrams printed on the apparel.
