NEX is a portable machine to transform network data into sound, allowing to explore the activity of local wireless networks through three playback modes.

NEX captures packets of data transmitted over radio frequency channels used by standard wireless networking technologies and uses them as triggers to generate different sounds. The strength of the radio signal transmitting the packet and distance from the radio transmitter are further mapped to the pitch and the velocity of the sounds.

NEX features a volume control and a button to loop through the three soundscapes on the front, and an audio port for streaming and a USB mini for power on the back.
