The Demystification Committee is undertaking an enquiry into the tactics and structures of offshore corporate finance as part of the 2017 Vilém Flusser Residency for Artistic Research, offered in partnership by transmediale and the Vilém Flusser Archive at the Berlin University of the Arts.
The proposal is to create an offshore investigation vehicle, using the operative frameworks of a number of tax havens as a shield to investigate them from within. Selecting the project, the jury wrote that they
especially valued the political nature of the project as combined with a sensitivity for the aesthetics of offshoring and the provocative nature of the experimental methodology, formulated as a ‘research threat’.
