In responding to their financial review, our accountants have made the following statement:
Having concluded the yearly review of the committee’s financial affairs, it is clear that the Demystification Committee has suffered a significant loss, and has little in the way of saleable assets or prospects. Therefore, in order to ensure the long-term financial stability required to achieve the Committee’s stated aims, the recommendation is that all financial operations are moved offshore.
In order to carry out this recommendation, the Demystification Committee will undertake an inquiry into the tactics, systems and structures of power embedded in offshore practices as part of the Vilém Flusser Residency for Artistic Research, offered in partnership between Transmediale and the Vilém Flusser Archive at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK).
The committee proposes to create an Offshore Invstigation Vehicle, using the frameworks of offshore finance as a shield to investigate it from within. Selecting the project, the jury write that they
especially valued the political nature of the project as combined with a sensitivity for the aesthetics of offshoring and the provocative nature of the experimental methodology, formulated as a ‘research threat’.
